I spent about fifteen minutes recently watching aircraft land at Stansted airport. With local knowledge you can actually stand right under the approach to runway 22. There are planes every five minutes or so. As I drove towards the airport I missed a 747 taking off which is a shame, I watched it bank left while climbing as I travelled along the M11. The picture below is one of many I took. Gaunts End is quite a good spot.
